Reminder of the rules of the best predictor in the world, which, still, to this day, has no equivalent in terms of genius, excitement and balls.
The aim of the game is simple. Predict as many correct results/scores as possible.
To do so, register with the appropriate form according to the competition you wish to enter. The spreadsheet will then be sent to you via google docs. You do not have to send it anywhere as google sheets will automatically communicate it to the organisor and other participants.
You have to predict all the games PRE-tournament. You do this by filling in the score squares on the sheet. And continue until you have a winner of the tournament.
You are awarded points for every correct result and correct score.
The genius part is that the points are based on gambling odds.
IE if you predict a crazy score and it happens, you get more points than if you predict a "normal" score. This means that the fun is not over until the final whistle of the final game as there's always a chance your crazy result might come through taking you to the top of the table.
These odds are taken from an aggregate of all major betting site odds. The best odds on the website are awarded. *
Here's an example:
For the first game of the tournament, the odds are as indicated above. If you predict Germany win and they do win, you will receive 1.29 points. If you correctly predict Scotland to win, you will get 13 points. A correct draw prediction will get you 6 points.
It is the same principle for scores. (odds below) If you correctly predict a 3-0 win for Germany, you will get an extra 7.5 points. A correct 3-0 win for Scotland however will get you an extra 251 points. The correct score points are added to the points awarded for correct result.
The odds are indicated on the spreadsheet provided.
You get points for:
Correct result (CR) - 36 group games + (8 + 4+ 2 + 1 KO) = 51
Correct score (CS) - 36 group games + (8 + 4+ 2 + 1 KO) = 51
Group - Straight Forecast Betting Odds = 6 (odds are next to the groups)
"Qualifies to next round" = 16 + (8 + 4 + 2 ) =30 (TQ)
Top scorer points = 1
To win the Cup = 2
= 141 inital predictions
= 44 secondary predictions (these are the numbers in brackets)
+ To qualify secondary predictions 8 + 4 + 2 + To lift trophy = 15
= 200 total point making predictions: HENCE the name of the site. See what I did there?
Points for knockout rounds are not yet available as odds don't exist for them yet. In case of correct prediction PRE-tournament of knockout rounds, you will be awarded on the day odds for those predictions.
For every knockout round you will have a chance to predict again with the correct games. This means that you have to fill in the spreadsheet a further 4 times after your pre-tournament predictions; round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and finals.
Date limits:
Group stages: June 14
Last game of group stage: June 23
Round of 16: June 29
Quarterfinals: July 5
Semifinals: July 9
Final: July 14
PRE-dictions have to be made BEFORE the start of the round in question. Failure to do so will mean your bets for teams that have started playing are void for the rest of that round. So make sure you get them in on time. Date limits indicated here:
You will be sent reminders by Google sheets to fill in your predictions.
Your original predictions still count giving possibilities for extra points.
Using Google Sheets provides certainty of when the spreadsheet was filled out to stop abuse of the system. Also, you will all be given access to everyone's predictions so that you can check them yourselves. I'm also making a little table so that you can see everyone's predictions for the upcoming games in a simple table format.
N.B.
For knockout rounds, the score indicated in the middle section is after 90 minutes. Indicate a winner with the scores under "TAB".
There is no difference between Extra time and penalties. Winning on penalties is like winning in extra time. There are no extra points for predicting whether one goes out on pens or in ET. The reason is there are no odds for score after extra time.
If you predict France vs Spain in final for eg, and the actual thing is Spain vs France; that doesn't count.
If available, the odds are taken from https://www.oddschecker.com/ The odds of the last 12 games of group stages were taken from https://napoleonsports.be apart from Scotland v Hungary which was taken from https://oddspedia.com. The odds were not yet available on the other sites.
